Ethel Winstead Joyner

September 19, 1925 ~ April 13, 2018

Ethel Mae (Winstead) Joyner, age 92, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Van and Dovie Winstead. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lindwood Joyner; son, Jimmie Joyner and daughter-in-law, Barbara Joyner; six brothers, one sister; and great grandson, Hudson Joyner. Ethel leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Ray Joyner (Patsy), Donald Joyner (Nancy) and daughter-in-law Pat Joyner. She is also survived by grandchildren, Andrea Ellis (Brian), Robin Joyner (Chris Narron), Donna Pulliam (Mack), Bryan Joyner (Sara), Marsha Moore (Daryl), 7 great grandchildren; lots of nieces, nephews and friends. Ethel was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was involved with Meals on Wheels; helped with local Ruritans; sang in the church choir, Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and Sunday school teacher. She loved working in her yard and garden. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.   1. Mama Joyner was a joy, I met her after I married into the family and was taken to heart. It was like having my Grandma back. I will miss her, but take joy in the times I got to be in her presents. Love to all of my cousins and I will see you tomorrow. Linda Winstead
