Jackie Morris Evans

Jackie “Jack” Morris Evans Sr., 80, of Nashville, NC passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday January 16, 2018. Born March 4, 1937, in Nash County, NC, he was the son of the late Raleigh Elmo and Edna Mae Armstrong Evans. He was the devoted husband to his late wife Cherry Page Evans for 58 years. Jackie grew up in Rocky Mount and went to Rocky Mount Senior High School. In 1957 he married Cherry Page. Shortly after, they began their journey of raising their family and moved to San Mateo, CA in 1965. He worked for TWA until he retired and moved back to NC in 1983. He then worked for the City of Rocky Mount until he retired permanently as Chief Water Plant Operator in 2002. Jackie was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. He was an accomplished athlete and avid sports fan, and especially loved baseball and football. He also loved spending time working in his yard. Jackie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Jackie is survived by his 3 children, Jackie M. Evans Jr. and wife Kamie, Sherry K. Zuniga and Jeffrey P. Evans and wife Traci; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Charles M. Evans Sr. and wife Linda and his sisters Fannie D. Harper and husband Bobby and Tempie E. Tolston. He is preceded in death by his brothers Billy M. Evans Sr. and Elmer G. Evans Sr. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home Cremation Services.
