STANTONSBURG – James Jasper Ellis, III, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Born in Wilson County, NC on February 23, 1953, he was the son of the late James Jasper Ellis, Jr. and Edna Smith Ellis.
James started working alongside his father as a farmer for many years. After his father retired from farming, James earned his engineering degree and went to work for many years at Green Engineering. During his time at Green Engineering, he worked on many large projects, including mapping for underground pipes in Wilson, Nash and Halifax counties. In his free time, James loved to dance and taught progressive dancing. He was a great dancer and during their time together, taught Dale over 50 different progressive dances. James also loved to tinker in his shop with small projects and could make something out of absolutely nothing. However, he loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and family. James will be truly missed by those that knew and loved him and will never be forgotten.
James is survived by his wife of 4 years, Dale Irwin Ellis; sister, Susan Bearden; brother, Steve Ellis, and wife Rhonda; and several nieces and nephews.
