NASHVILLE – Jill T. Schnake-Roeder, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 5:40 AM. Born in Westport, CT on April 14, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Murray Bernard Rayburn and Marjorie Shulman Rayburn.
Jill never met a stranger, never felt awkward in any situation, and never lacked an opinion – or the want to share it. She was a fighter in life, which remained true through to the very end.
She was passionate about serving her local community, and was always deeply involved with her local chamber, rotary club and local businesses. She could also always be found volunteering with many local or larger organizations like the American Red Cross.
Jill’s other main devotion in life was to her family, both immediate and extended – with a special place in her heart held for her granddaughters.
Jill is survived by her sons, Joseph and Jonathan, along with their spouses, Patricia and Kelly; her grandchildren, Mikayla and Jayden; her sisters, Randi and Nina, and their families; and finally, her faithful companion, Erwyn.
A celebration of Jill’s life is being planned, the details for which will be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, our family would instead ask that anyone would who like to honor Jill donate to a non-kill animal shelter in her name.
Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.johnsonfuneralsandcremations.com.
