  1. I knew John for a very long time and had the pleasure of serving with him at the Rocky Mount Fire Department. John was a dedicated public servant and did an outstanding job as a Fire Engineer. He always kept his assigned fire apparatus in tip-top condition, he knew his assigned response areas extremely well, and he performed his firefighting duties professionally. He will be missed by many but never forgotten in the halls of the Rocky Mount Fire Stations. Sincerely, J. Keith Harris – RMFD Chief (retired)

  2. This was very sad news to hear. John was much appreciated for his help with all the RMSH Class of ’70 reunions. He was always willing to pitch in wherever needed. We could always count on him! He will be missed by us all.

  3. John worked with the Rocky Mount Community Code Division for the last 13 years in vector control. Extremely dependable and professional, he never said a lot, but if he did come and speak with me I knew it was important. He was a quiet man and he just showed up every day, did his job and went home. He was a good man- didn’t pull any punches and what you saw is what you got.

  4. Had an opportunity to work a project with John during his time with the water department. Very knowledgeable of the task assignment and always courteous to the cities customers and employees. Sincerely, Mack Everette City of Rocky Mount (retired) Energy ResourcesCommunications
