Kenneth Lee Thorpe

ROCKY MOUNT – Kenneth Lee Thorpe, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on June 20, 1954, he was the son of the late Paul Thorpe and Dora Mae Harper Thorpe. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Masson.

Kenneth was a devoted man of faith and family whose quiet and reserved nature reflected his gentle spirit. He was a longtime and faithful member of the Salvation Army Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life.

Kenneth enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially fishing and spending time outdoors. Above all, he loved his family dearly and treasured every moment spent with them. Holidays held a special place in his heart, as he enjoyed having his loved ones together and making memories that would last a lifetime.

Though Kenneth was a quiet man who kept to himself, his love for his family was deep and unwavering. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, gentle nature, love of fishing, and devotion to those he held dear. His memory will live on through the many cherished moments shared with family and friends, especially those special times when everyone gathered together.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 17 years, Nancy Cannon Thorpe; daughter, Candace Lee Thorpe; several grandchildren; sister, Judy Jones (Bobby); brothers, Michael Thorpe (Shannon), Paul Thorpe, Jr. ( Nancy Hazelwood); uncle, Henry Harper; aunt Ida Harper, and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC  27804. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  A visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45PM prior to the service in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
