SHARPSBURG – Lisa Ann Collie, age 57, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Lisa grew up in Sharpsburg and attended NEW Christian Academy, Southern Nash Junior and Southern Nash Senior High where she graduated in 1985. She was a cheerleader at her school and won the Miss Holly beauty pageant years ago. Lisa’s biggest pleasure and the highlight of her life was her son Tyler that gave her the blessing of being a mom for the first and only time. Although having him later in life she truly became a great mom and to have a loving autistic child for 16 years, she saw no wrong in him and gave him all she could to the end of her life.
Lisa leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Tyler Whitley of the home; father George L. Collie of the home and brother Randall Collie of Sharpsburg. She is also survived by her aunts; Joyce and husband Billy Green of Rocky Mount, Jo Ann Lamm and husband Barry Goldstein of Rocky Mount, and Faye Sherrod of Spring Hope. Her uncle Richard and wife Vicky Collie of Wilson and many loving cousins.
Lisa had many friends and family that helped along the way through the more than 5 years of battling breast cancer. Along with her dad, Lisa’s aunt Joyce and aunt Jo Ann were like having her mother right there by her side through all the doctor’s visits and the pain she endured, she truly loved them immensely. Friends like Dawn Winstead, Wendy Perkerson Moon, Angie Vaughan Baker, Donna Woolard and many more for helping care and taking her to her doctor’s visits and just being a friend.
A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Avalon Baptist Church, 3225 Old Battleboro Road Rocky Mount, NC 27801 with Pastor Bill Brantley officiating.
