Margaret Amerson “Amy” Moore was 68 years young when she passed away in her home on July 11, 2023. Amy was born May 14, 1955 in Tarboro, NC. She was excied to be moving back to her childhood home with her family in Edgecombe County to spend the rest of her days in retirement.
Amy was a beautiful woman with a big heart and a smile that took your breath away. She could brighten the darkest night. She had a soul and spirit to match. She was classy and sassy, fun and professional. She was everything all in one.
Amy grew up attending South Edgecombe School where she was a junior varsity and varsity cheerleader for the beloved “Dragons”. She then went to Mount Olive College where she realized that she had a desire to become a nurse. Amy proceeded to go to Edgecombe Community College, where she graduated with her Associates in Nursing degree as a Registered Nurse “RN” in March 1977. After working in the hospital for several years, with the emergency department being her favorite work area, she had a calling to be a pioneer and entrepreneur. It was then that Amy founded Apple Healthcare Home Health Agency in Greenville, NC where she lived. It was the first home care agency in Eastern NC. She proved to be successful at running her own company as well as being a dedicated nurse. Some years later, she decided to pursue an adventure and a dream and closed the agency to do so. But this was brief, and she rushed back home to her calling as the entrepreneur of Home Care and Nursing. The results is the successful Carolina Nursing founded in 1996 that she owned and ran until she passed.
Amy loved to read all of her life. She read nursing and romance novels as a young nurse, murder mysteries later and over the past several years Christian books with her passion being the Bible. She read and studied the Bible daily and had found the relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus & Father God that she always wanted. She was raised attending Eagles Baptist Church with her family, where her Grandfather, Levi Owens, was a deacon. As a teenager she attended Webb’s Chapel Church for a time with her friends. She tithed faithfully at the family home church Eagles Baptist until the end of her days.
Amy was proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Levi & Myrtle Owens; her mother, Margaret “Peggy” Moore; and step father, Garland Moore. She is survived by her sister Cynthia “Cindy” Moore; niece, Amanda Rae Lewis; great nephew, Damien Dunn; and great niece, Shana Webb.
She was loved beyond measure and will be missed more than words can say.
So sorry for your loss. Such a beautiful vibrant woman. May she rest in peace. Prayers for family and friends. 🙏
In Honor of a great mentor, businesswoman and dear friend, I am brokenhearted to publish this announcement. I worked for her company, Carolina Nursing Services, Inc. for 13 years and she taught me everything I know about home care and so much more. She still is a bigger than life spirit, because many of her ethics, professionalism and acts of kindness live on through me. To all former and current nursing staff employees, I hope you will join me in your best white uniform (optional) on August 5, 2023 at 2pm to pay your final respects and to send her off in the class and style that she represented every day of her life as Agency Director and Registered Nurse of Carolina Nursing Services, Inc.

My precious friend:
I never, ever thought this day would come. My heart is broken 💔. Although it’s been several days, I cannot wrap my head, let alone my heart, around this devastating news. I’m still in shock.
We always had each other’s back – throughout our lives – and I will have yours even in death.
As soon as I can create a GoFundMe page, I will request in lieu of flowers that monetary donations be made to purchase a memorial bench on the Macclesfield Town Commons in your memory. If we exceed our goal, those monies will be used to create a Scholarship Fund at Eagles Baptist Church to be used by the Girl’s Auxiliary (GA’s) to send under privileged girls to GA camp during the summer. Amy and I had sooo much fun at GA camp and looked forward to it each summer, Until I can create the GoFundMe me page, please drop off donations at the Macclesfield Town Hall or you may mail them to Emily Turner PO Box 593 Macclesfield NC 27852.
