Margaret Croom Proctor

Rocky Mount - Margaret Croom Proctor, age 101, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Born on October 19, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Ollie and Maggie Croom. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lance Proctor Sr.; daughter, Barbara P. Proctor and husband Marshall, granddaughter, Cynthia P. Edwards and eight siblings. Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Edward “Sonny Boy” Jr., Richard “Dickie” Proctor, Michael “Mikey” Proctor and Thomas “Tommy” Proctor and daughters, Theresa “Sister” Williford and LeStevia Ann “Lee Ann” Hodges. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, one step grandchild, sixteen great grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren. Margaret was a proud member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She served as president of the United Methodist Women and also served as financial secretary of the entire church. Margaret has served as a Sunday school teacher for grades four through six for six years and participated in Vacation Bible School annually. She also served as treasurer for the Rocky Mount chapter of Church Women United, an interdenominational organization of church women. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home Cremation Services. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
