TARBORO – Mollie Nunnally Vann, age 85, died on April 30, 2026 at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC. The daughter of the late John Albert Vann, Jr. and Josephine Huffines Vann, she was born in Rocky Mount, NC on January 2, 1941.
Mollie was a resident at the Easter Seals UCP Group Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC for 24 years before moving to Edgecombe Health Center by Harborview in Tarboro, NC in 2014. The Family is grateful for the loving and capable staff at both places of residence.
Mollie was confirmed at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Rocky Mount, NC and most recently attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. When she was no longer able to go to church, the priests at Saint Catherine of Siena in Tarboro, NC came to her. Mollie was a devoted Christian and her deep faith was an example for all who knew her.
Mollie is survived by her two sisters, Elizabeth Vann Hobbs, and husband, F. Worthington Hobbs, III, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Josephine Vann Harrison, and husband, Frank S. Harrison, of Rocky Mount, NC. She is also survived by her nephews, John Hobbs and David Hobbs (Maggie); and her niece, Josie Brinkman (Ethan); her great nieces, Libby Forkin (Grady), and Carolina Hobbs (Holden Leslie-Bole); and her great nephews, Whit Hobbs (Elizabeth), William Hobbs, and Harrison Brinkman. The family is thankful for numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who always remembered Mollie throughout her life. Miriam Lewis, Mollie’s friend and faithful companion, will always be considered a member of our family. Her love for Mollie and weekly visits during the twelve years Mollie lived in Tarboro will never be forgotten.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 114 St. David Street Tarboro, NC, on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church parish hall after the service.
In Lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mollie may be made to St. Catherine of Siene Catholic Church, 1004 St. David Street Tarboro, NC 27886, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 Hamilton Street Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870, or a charity of choice.
