Rocky Mount - Myrtlean Pridgen Ricks, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on March 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Bertha Pridgen. She was also preceded in death by her son, Scottie Ricks; and one brother, William Hardy Pridgen.
Myrtlean leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband, James A. Ricks of the home; son, Billy H. Ricks and wife Bev of Rocky Mount; brothers, Noah Lee Pridgen and wife Fannie and Allen “Bud” Pridgen and wife Cindy; sisters, Mary Pridgen Smith and husband Luther and Joyce Pridgen Sherrod and husband Roland and brother-in-law Robert Ricks and wife Rose. Myrtlean is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own grandchildren.
Myrtlean was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday school class. She was famous for her sweet potato and fruit jacks and purple heart, wandering jew and other beautiful plants.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
