Nancy Davis Cotton

WILLIAMSTON – Nancy Davis Cotton, age 65, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2026. Born in Rocky Mount, she was the second daughter of the Late Gordon Edwin Davis and Florence Patten Lancaster. Completing their family 13 years after the birth of her only sister, Barbara.

After graduating from Rocky Mount High, Nancy pursued her passion for art at East Carolina University, majoring in the subject. She excelled in various forms of art, much like her father, and they shared a deep bond over drawing, painting, and pottery. However, Nancy also learned a unique art form from her mother – the art of cooking. Her culinary creations, particularly her famous spaghetti, baked mac and cheese, and blueberry crumble, were a testament to her skills.

During her time at CDC, Nancy met Philip Lee Cotton, whom she later married and with whom she had two children, Jordan and Patrick. Throughout her life, Nancy held various jobs, always thriving in each role she took on. She obtained her cosmetology license, worked in furniture sales, and became renowned for her real estate expertise.

Nancy’s favorite vacation spot, the beach, eventually became her permanent home. She resided in Manteo for about a decade, cherishing the time she spent there. Nancy was also a founding member of the Sunshine Girls, a club that brought joy and camaraderie to many. Nancy, an adored member of the Williamston community, cultivated lifelong friendships and transformed them into cherished family bonds.

She is survived by her daughter Emilee Jordan Cotton of Currituck; son, Patrick Davis Cotton and wife Logan of Hollister; her grandchildren, Madelynn Rose Sawyer, Gavin Bradlee Sawyer; great-granddaughter Lyra Josephine; and her sister Barbara and husband Ashby of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and their two children.

Nancy’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of loving her. Her legacy will endure in vibrant patterned blouses, the adornment of sequins, and jingle of a tambourine. She will be remembered in every gathering, joyous occasion, and Beatles song played.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, and further details will be shared by the family.
