Nannie "Connie" Cornetious Burnette

RALEIGH - Nannie Cornetious "Connie" Burnette, age 91, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. Born in Wilson County, NC on April 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Silas Farmer and Mournen Edwards Farmer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Whitney Nash Burnette; her son, Don Wayne Joyner; her sister, Mavis Moore; and her brother, Elma Farmer. Connie loved being outside. She loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers in her yard. She was known for also keeping her house immaculate, never seeing anything out of place. When Connie wasn't enjoying her yardwork, she liked to take a trip to Crabtree mall and doing a little shopping. She also enjoyed traveling around the United States and taking in the sites. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her loving spirit will never be forgotten as she was everything to her family. Connie is survived by her grandchildren, Don Joyner, Kim Cobb, and Christina Graham; her six great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Vivian Blalock; and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
