Ollie Mae Joyner Poland

Elm City - Ollie Mae Joyner Poland, age 91, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, NC. Born in Wilson County, NC on November 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Minnie Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Poland; three sisters, Marie Weaver (Cliff), Dorothy Winstead (Darcey) and Beulah Pridgen (Delano); and two brothers, Earl Joyner (Audrey) and Harvey Joyner (Joyce). Ollie leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, James Elvin Poland and wife, Paula. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lisa Poland, Valerie Poland, Paul Poland, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Ollie was one of God's Angels with a heart of gold. She was a life time member of Vaughan's Chapel Church, where she served as Treasure of Sunday School for many years. She was employed by McCory McClellan's for 40 years as assistant manager and Walmart as a department manager for 7 years. A special Thank You to, Connie Page for all the loving things you done for her. Also, a thank you to the Med. Techs, Aides and Staff at Hunter Hill Assisted Living and the Nurses and Aides at Vidant Hospice House. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home.   1. The first day that I met Grandma Ollie at HH, she and I became instant friends and I was soon adopted in her loving heart. She was my cheerleader when I had PT and she saw me walk for the first time. I will always have a place in my heart for Grandma. Love and prayers for you all.
