Pauline "Polly" Elizabeth Smith Williford, age 96, July 1, 1922 - December 26, 2018. One of her favorite Bible verses was, Psalm 116:15, Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Pauline Elizabeth Smith Williford, "Miss Polly," is preceded in death by her parents, Josephus and Elizabeth Burbage Smith, her beloved husband of 54 years, Elmo, her devoted first born son, Dennis, eleven brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Polly leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Ellis (Kathy) and Jeffrey. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Laura Owens (Shawn), Annie Cilinski (Brian), Melissa Nycole Work (Matthew), and Justin Williford, four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail Owens, Cayden and Madeline Cilinski. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home with the service following at 4:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Family and friends are welcome to the burial on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Temperance Hall United Methodist Church, 3237 Temperance Hall Road, Elm City, NC 27822.
