Robert D. Cashwell

September 6, 1956 ~ February 16, 2021

ROCKY MOUNT - Robert Daniel Cashwell, age 64, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on September 6, 1956, he was the son of the late Robert Manley and Hannah Mercer Cashwell. Robert had an interest in trains from a young boy. He loved to put model trains together and showcase them in his house for all his visitors to enjoy. He would go downtown to the train station and watch the trains coming and going. As a young man he was a Volunteer Firefighter for West Edgecombe Fire Department. He graduated from NEW Christian Academy in 1974, and continued his Education at Wilson Community College where he graduated in 1976. Robert is survived by his sister, Rose Parks and husband, Ross, of Clayton; four nephews; two nieces; seven great-nieces and two great-nephews. A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Jeff Chappell officiating. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Robert's memory to West Edgecombe Baptist Church, 13821 NC Hwy. 43, North, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.   3. I’m truly sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. He and I were good friends coming up through the lower grades at West Edgecombe. And though he finished up his school days at NEW Academy he is in the hearts of the WEHS Class of 1974.

  4. I was sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. He and I were good friends in grade school at West Edgecombe and although he finished his education at NEW, he will always be considered a part of the class of 1974 at WEHS. My condolences to Rose and the rest of the family.

Dan was such a kind soul and I remember those trains well, even thought I was probably only about 5 years old when we visited your home with my grandparents.
