ENFIELD - Robert Frederick "Freddy" Cooke, age 71, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on July 24, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert E. Lee and Margaret Hunter Cooke. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Pete Cooke.
Freddy proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than 30 years of devoted service. Freddy was a lifetime member of Scotfield Country Club in Enfield. Freddy loved his sports. He played softball for many years, was an avid golfer, loved football and Nascar. Most of all Freddy loved to have a good time with family and friends. He found the most joy and fun with his three sons and especially his grandchildren, they were the apple of his eye. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many who loved him.
Freddy is survived by his sons, Steven Cooke of Stokes, John Cooke and wife, Kaci, of Robersonville, and Brandon Cooke and girlfriend, Stephanie, of Holiday, Fl; his grandchildren, Andrew and Austin Cooke; his brother, Hunter Cooke and wife, Robin, of Enfield; his nephew, and many friends.
A Celebration of Freddy's Life will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff at Vidant Inpatient Hospice for the care they gave Freddy during his illness.
