Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Amy and Lori, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time . R L was always so kind and helpful to me and Charles Earl. I love you both. Love, Barbara Sykes

  2. Lori and Amy, my heart goes out to you at this time. I have so many fond memories of Mr. R L and the store. That is where I ate my first hoop cheese, and Devil Ham in the can. So many memories, like sliding down the back steps of the store on the waxed boxes. I only hope that RL and all the family knew how much they meant to me and all the community! Sending my Love and Prayers!!!!!

  3. Amy and Lori I am so sorry to learn of your loss. It almost seems as if I have known your Dad as long as I knew your Mom. He was part of our family for a long time. Lots of memories. He was a cornerstone at Basss Cross Road. He will be missed by all that he had crossed paths with. May God bless both of you and draw you closer to each other and God during this time of bereavement. I love both of you.

  4. Mr. Bass called me to order his hoop cheese. He wanted to make sure it was just the right date so he could cure it to taste its best. I always enjoyed talking to him. He was such a Southern Gentleman. We are sorry for your loss. He will be missed at Adams Wholesale Company and Freds Food Club.

  5. Amy & Loris & The Bass Family. My heart goes out you all at this time of bereavement. RL was a very nice thoughtful gentlemen! I remember back in the early 60s when father would go to the store to get hoop cheese for mom to make cheese & eggs and RL would ask how was the rest of the family doing 1970 I moved away to NJ. RL would always ask my father or my sister Zulene how was I doing in the big city When ever I came home to visit I would go by the store and RL would asked questions about N Jersey! Since I moved back home in would just stop by when I was down in the area! RL will certainly be missed! Remember Earth has no sorrow that God cannot heal! Also remember those we love dont go away they walk beside us everyday unseen unheard but always near still loved still missed! Sincerely Virgin Mary Elizabeth Arrington & Family

  6. RL was one of the best people I have ever known. Always quietly helping others and never seeking recognition for it. Will never forget that after he found out it took me hours to get to the hospital one night when a family member was critical, he filled his car up with gas, brought it to me, and left me the keys. He took Lori and me both to the hospital one morning after a car accident and paid my bill. I remember dropping by one Sunday after church and inadvertently interrupting dinner. He got up from the table, fixed me a plate of food and insisted I sit down and eat with them. I will miss running into him at the grocery store and talking. He was truly a great person.
