Ronald Ronnie Joyner

ROCKY MOUNT - Ronald "Ronnie" Joyner, age 72, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Born in Nash County, NC on June 5, 1948, he was the son of the late William Mose Joyner and Fannie Pearl Pittman Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Milton Timothy Joyner. Ronnie was an avid fisherman. He was the owner of B & R Bait and Tackle, he enjoyed talking to his customers, who were more like family when they left about their fishing experience. He loved knowing what was being caught and what they were using to catch it. Some of his favorite past times were sitting in the yard grilling, making moonshine and listening to Bluegrass music. He did love a good western movie, his favorites were Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Raising a good garden, hogs and cows was always a priority for Ronnie. His most cherished moments were spent with his family making memories. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, Pa and brother to all that loved him. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rebecca "Becky" Burgess Joyner; his daughter, Patricia McGowan House and husband, Fletcher, of Lagrange; his sons, Patrick Wade Joyner and wife, April of Nashville and William Alan Joyner and wife, Stephanie of Rocky Mount; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn Leonard of Nashville, Emma Joyner of Nashville, and Hilda Viverette of Rocky Mount; his brothers, William Ray Joyner of Rocky Mount, Enoch Lewis Joyner of Nashville, and David Carl Joyner of Pinetops; many nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Mutt and Sally May. He was also survived by his best friend, James Hollifield. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Mill Branch Cemetery with Pastor Ricky Forkum officiating. A visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Ronnie's memory to the American Cancer Society.   2. I am saddened to hear of Ronnie’s passing. He was my friend, coworker and fishing buddy from way back. Most of all he was a good man, great father and husband, blessed with a great family.
