Sandra W Daughtridge

October 19, 1954 ~ September 25, 2021

SARATOGA - Sandra W. Daughtridge, age 66, went to her final rest on Saturday, September 25, 2021 after a lifetime of battles against ill-health. Born in Johnston County, NC on October 19, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Whitman and Rosalie Jones Whitman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Solon Jett; and her sister, Linda Owen. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid reader, music lover, and a crafter of many talents. If Sandra wasn't seen with a book in her hand, it was likely a crochet hook, knitting needles, or other tools of the art. Many of her projects still decorate the homes of friends and loved ones; a tangible reminder of a lovely soul who will be dearly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, William Daughtridge, and David Daughtridge and his wife, Breanna; grandchildren, Taylor and Daniel; sister, Becky; brother Alan; many nieces and nephews; best friends Lou Ann Bachelor and Diana Stolpp; and the many others touched by her spirit and friendship. A Celebration of Sandra's Life will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will follow the service. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of the Hospice of Wilson, NC for their invaluable care and assistance over the last several weeks and most especially her nurse, Di'ana Worrells, for going above and beyond to help ease Sandra's transition from this life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sandra's memory to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. 1. To the family of Sandra Whitman Daughtridge I am so saddened to hear of her passing. Sandra was a sweet neighbor that lived on the same street as my family . Our parents and children visited each other while growing up together. She was very smart and talented. She was a very good cook too. Sandra will be missed by us all . May God surround the family and comfort them all at this difficult sad time. Sincerely, Marla Frederick Hufton

  2. [emailprotected] Good morning, family and friends. I am so sad to hear about Aunt Sandy. I had the pleasure of hanging out with her for a few days when she was visiting my Mom (Linda Owen) before she too passed away. Sandy has always had a special place in my heart. She, Uncle Jett, Paul and David have too. I’ll always remember her laugh, her smile, her crafts and her funny sense of humor. She always had a way of making me feel special. Even though we didn’t see each other very often, she and I could pick up where we left off as if we were never apart. I know she loves her family with every ounce of her heart. Paul and David, I’m sure you know how proud she was of you both and she was very happy to be a grandmother. She was like the sunshine on any given day no matter what and she could always make me laugh. Iam so grateful for the time we shared together. Now another angel joins heaven. I’m certain, she, my mom, Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Jett can enjoy her company as she continues to love us all from His Kingdom. God bless you, Aunt Sandy. I love you!!!!! Thank you for being such a wonderful person and for making each day spent with you a better one. You will be missed more than words can say. Aunt Becky and Uncle Alan, I love you both. I’m thinking of you all and my prayers go out to you as well.

  3. Riding in the backseat, of Uncle Jeff & Aunt Sandy’s, VW bug. Going fast over the Elm City Railroad tracks & hitting my head on the roof. Laughing & doing it all over again. I love you Aunt Sandy

  4. It hurts my heart to hear of Sandy’s passing. Her husband and mine worked together at CDC now called Rocky Mount engine plant. We became extremely close always got together almost every weekend. I loved hearing Sandy laugh. We let time get away from us regretfully. I know she suffered through lots of things but no more she’s with her Savior now Praise God. I love you Sandy.
