Thomas "Butch" Gordon West, Jr.

April 12, 1945 ~ July 19, 2021

BATTLEBORO - Tommy "Butch" West, Jr., age 76, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on April 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Thomas Gordon West, Sr. and Annie Mae Barrett West. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Jane West. Butch loved the outdoors. He loved to spend all of his time hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Butch will be truly missed by everyone who's lives he has touched. Butch is survived by his daughters, Sherry West Taylor and husband, Robert, of Whitakers, and Terri West Hawkins and Chris Jones, of Nashville; his son, Tim Joyner, of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Roxanne Brantley, Anthony Hawkins, and Miranda Hawkins; his great-grandchildren, Ethan Hawkins, Cole Brantley, and Trevor Sherrod; his sister Jean Ann West Bryant, of Spring Hope; and cousins Van and Catherine Sellers, of Straits, and Robert and Evelyn Sellers, of Fayetteville, and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Battleboro Cemetery, with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside. Flowers are welcome.   5. I will miss you Uncle Butch So Much! You were my Dad’s (Willie) Best Friend and you’ve been a Comfort and Friend to us since Daddy passed away. I finally made it to one of your fishing spots and was able to see you in action doing what you loved. I always Loved when you drove up to the house or see your name on the caller ID. To be honest, it was like we still had a piece of Daddy here with us, but now I have to say goodbye Uncle Butch until I see you on the other side. Thank you for being a part of my life and showing me to Love Life and Live it to the fullest doing what makes you happy and free. It’s been my Great Honor knowing you, your Beautiful Wife and Daughters. Family is Everything. Thank you for being a part of Our Family. I Love you Uncle Butch.

  6. So very sorry to hear of the loss of Butch. Our cousin Van Sellers contacted me. My granddaddy Don West, Bruce West, and Tommy West, Sr were brothers. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
