ROCKY MOUNT – Wade L. Woodley, Jr., age 95, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on January 28, 1927, he was the son of the Wade Woodley, Sr. and Elsie Bateman Woodley. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Fleet Woodley, and his second wife, Jeane Brown Woodley.Wade was a man of great faith, he was a long-time member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a Mason for many years and was a proud Navy veteran. Wade loved traveling and taking cruises when he retired. He loved his family and his dog Bella dearly. He was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him, but his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family.Wade is survived by his sons, Wade Woodley, III of Whitakers, and William Fleet Woodley and wife, Sherry, of Raleigh.A Memorial Service to celebrate Wade’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM following to the service in the parlor of Johnson Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wade’s memory to Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, 3732 Sunset Ave, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   3. Wade, I just saw this today and I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you are at peace knowing that you were a very good son to your beloved father. I’m so sorry I was not at the service but will pray for your comfort in the coming days and weeks. We’ve talked about this before. Even when it’s expected, it leaves a hole in your life.
