William "Billy" Rufus Blackley

February 17, 1939 ~ January 30, 2017

Rocky Mount - William “Billy” Rufus Blackley III, age 77 went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He passed away at Nash General Hospital on Monday, January 30, 2017. Born on February 17, 1939, in New Bern, NC, Craven County. He was the son of the late William R. Jr. and Marjorie P. Blackley. Billy loved and enjoyed being with his family and friends. He also corresponded with numerous friends and relatives from the East Coast to the West Coast, and from the North to the South and abroad, especially during the Christmas holidays. When he was able, Billy always enjoyed eating at the various restaurants in Rocky Mount and surrounding areas. Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory, sisters, Janet B. Wilhalf and Sarita B. Phillips and husband Glenn, cousins Mary Ruth M. Bulluck (Benjamin) and Bobby J. Mitchell (Vicki) all of Rocky Mount, NC. Also to cherish his memory are three nephews, one niece, many great nephews and great nieces and many other cousins. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM with the Funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC. Englewood Baptist Churchs Associate Pastor Charles Taylor will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
