Willie "Chuck" Lee Whitaker

BATTLEBORO - Willie Lee "Chuck" Whitaker, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 23, 1962, he was the son of the late Berry and Mary Davis Whitaker. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Whitaker; his sister, Ella Bullock; and his sister-in-law, Sarah Hinton.
Chuck was a family man and enjoyed spending his time with his wife, sons and grandchildren. He could most often be found fishing. Chuck loved gaming and traveling any chance he could. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his wife, the love of his life of 33 years, Nancy Whitaker; his sons, Jarell Whitaker of Battleboro, and Richard Whitaker of Winterville; his adopted daughters, Latoya Lynch and Stephanie Mangum; his grandchildren, David Hinton Whitaker, Amari Whitaker, Kylell Whitaker, Lamiah Sharpe and Messiah Sharpe; his sisters, Shirley Deloatch of Warrenton, Dianne Batchelor, Mary Davis, Sarah Whitaker, Iris Whitaker, all of Rocky Mount, Earline Curry of Baltimore, MD and Jeannette Shields of Scotland Neck; his brothers, Johnny Davis, Walter Davis (Rosa), Bobby Davis (Patricia), all of Rocky Mount, Deon Whitaker of Maryland, Curtis Whitaker and Berry Whitaker, Jr., both of Baltimore, MD; his sisters-in-law, Verna Hinton and Robin Simons; his brothers-in-law, Willie Phillips and Richard Hinton, Jr. (Verita); and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
