Winfred Mitchell

ROCKY MOUNT – Mr. Winfred Mitchell transitioned from his earthly home on February 16, 2025, at 3:20 PM. He was born in Madison, Georgia, Morgan County, on September 18,1957 to Helen Mitchell Bennett.

Mr. Mitchell attended Pearl Elementary school before migrating to Newark, New Jersey, in 1962 with his grandmother, the late Maple Mitchell. After the death of his grandmother at age 9, Winfred spent the rest of his childhood days with his mother, Helen, and his stepfather, Mr. Rueben Bennett. Mr. Winfred attended Kean College in NJ for Culinary Arts. He was a member of the United States Army for 2 years. After an honorable discharge, he pursued a career in construction, focusing on house painting and gardening. Mr. Mitchell loved being outside and making your home beautiful inside and out. After a long-term illness, Mr. Mitchell moved to North Carolina and was cared for by Mr. James and Ivy Hunt until his death. Mr. Mitchell’s warm, quiet personality and smile will be missed dearly.

Mr. Winfred Mitchell leaves to morning his daughter, Sparkle Mitchell Davis of New Jersey, mother, Helen Mitchell Bennett; step father, Rueben Bennett of NC; aunts, Julia Humphries of NC, Elizabeth Rose of NJ, Dorothy Brown (John Brown) of NJ, Linda Mitchell of NJ, and Bertha Mitchell of NC; a host of cousins and grand cousins; and his special friends, Mr. and Ms. James and Ivy Hunt of North Carolina.

Rest in peace, my son, nephew and buddy, Julia.
