Winston O'Bryant Jones Sr.

ROCKY MOUNT – Winston O’Bryant Jones, Sr., age 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Born in Halifax County, NC on August 16, 1945, he was the son of the late Alexander Jones and Sadie Alston Jones. He was also preceded in death by his son, Winston O’Bryant Jones, Jr.; brothers, Cleveland Jones, Arlondus Jones, and William Ray Jones; and sisters, Mary Ann Brown, and Evangeline Barnes.

Winston was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and hardworking man who never met a stranger. A “self-employed hustler”, he made a living selling used tires, repairing cars, and buying and selling vehicles.

He found joy in fishing, playing poker and Deuces, frying fish for family gatherings, and especially camping trips with his beloved wife, Stephanie. Above all, Winston cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them.

His love, laughter, and hardworking spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Winston is survived by his wife of 15 years, Stephanie M. Mitchiner; daughters, Linda Faye Jones (Chinedum Ogbonna), Jennelle Jones, Dazelle Pettaway (Greg), Mary Adams, Alice Adams; step-daughter, Toni Williams; son, Winston Junior Jenkins (Ikaneisha); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine Gray, Dorothy Lynch; brother, Alton Jones (Frances), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Service 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC  27804. A visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45PM prior to the service in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
